KUALA LUMPUR: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim will be in Sabah on Friday (Sept 19) to assess the worsening flood situation there.
“I am going tomorrow,” he said briefly when met after officiating the Asean Inter-Parliamentary Assembly (AIPA) at the World Trade Centre KL here on Thursday (Sept 18).

Anwar will be there to assess the situation of the disaster that has hit several parts of Sabah.
Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi has been in Sabah since Wednesday (Sept 17) and has urged residents on the east coast to be prepared for possible evacuation, as strong winds are forecast to hit Sandakan and Lahad Datu in the next two days.
The situation in Sabah has deteriorated, with the number of evacuees at temporary relief centres increasing to 3,134 people from 916 families on Thursday morning.

On Wednesday, there were 2,919 evacuees from 814 families.
Numbers of the displaced in Sipitang are on the rise, while the figure remains the same in Beaufort, Papar and Putatan.
Penampang and Membakut, meanwhile, have recorded decreases.
The floods in Sabah began on Sept 9, and to date, landslides there have claimed 13 lives.
