24-year-old killed in Lahad Datu car crash


KOTA KINABALU: A man was killed after his car collided with a lorry near SK Sandau in Lahad Datu on Thursday evening (Sept 18).

The victim, identified as Mohd Ali Emrand Shatrul, 24, was driving a sedan along the road when he crashed into a three-tonne lorry at around 3pm.

Lahad Datu Fire Station chief Sumsoa Rashid said the department received a distress call regarding the incident at around 3.20pm, and a team of eight firemen was dispatched.

“They arrived at the scene at around 3.45pm, and saw that the sedan was up in flames,” he said in a statement on Thursday.

Sumsoa said the victim’s charred remains were discovered in the car after the fire was extinguished.

He said the two victims in the lorry, Hazwan Muhammad, 34, and Mohammad Hazzril Ali, 24, sustained injuries and were taken to a hospital

The operation ended at 4.38pm.
