THE screenings for the Global Sumud Flotilla humanitarian mission to Gaza were an arduous process, and celebrity humanitarian activist Ardell Aryana expressed gratitude for making it through, reported Sinar Harian.

Ardell, 35, whose real name is Nurul Hidayah Mohd Amin, said all flotilla participants had to undergo strict vetting processes.

“At every stop, there were various screenings and some volunteers did not make it through. Alhamdulillah, I’ve reached the final stage,” she said during a social media broadcast Saturday night.

Ardell, who departed from Tunisia, said the small boat she and other participants were on began its voyage with limited food supplies around 6pm local time.

They were scheduled to meet with more participants, departing from Italy, in the open sea.

Then, they would travel towards the Gaza coast to break the Israeli blockade, which has prevented food and medicine from reaching the starving Palestinians.

It was reported that the Global Sumud Flotilla convoy, which comprises over 40 ships with more than 800 activists from 44 countries including doctors, aims to deliver food and medical aid to Palestinians.

> Berita Harian reported that Malaysian actress Nur Fazura Sharifuddin marked a solemn day on Sept 14, remembering her late father Sharifuddin Adnan on the 25th anniversary of his passing.

“Sept 14. Twenty-five years have passed... my love for you will never fade. Al-Fatihah... Papa,” she expressed her emotions on social media.

Her post drew many messages of encouragement from fans, with some praying for her to remain strong and to find happiness in life with her only daughter, Nur Fatima Aisya.
