Pondok school headmaster arrested for physical sexual assault on student

KUALA TERENGGANU: A headmaster of a pondok school in Tumpat, Kelantan, who was previously charged in court for physical sexual assault against a male student, has been arrested again on suspicion of committing a similar offence at a tahfiz school in Batu Rakit, Kuala Nerus.

Kuala Terengganu OCPD Asst Comm Azli Mohd Noor said the 46-year-old suspect was arrested at 7.30pm on Saturday (Sept 13) at a madrasah in Tumpat.

"Based on initial investigations, the suspect is believed to have physically sexually assaulted a 14-year-old male student at a tahfiz school in Batu Rakit, Kuala Nerus, at about 9pm in February," he said when contacted on Sunday (Sept 14).

Azli said the suspect is on remand for five days from today to assist with the investigation under Section 14(a) of the Sexual Offences Against Children Act 2017.

Last Thursday (Sept 11), the suspect was charged at the Pasir Mas Sessions Court in Kelantan with seven counts of sexually assaulting a male student and possessing obscene images.

He pleaded not guilty to all charges. – Bernama
