Army personnel found dead, another missing in Semporna


KOTA KINABALU: A member of the Armed Forces, Prebet Muhammad Irfan Haiqal Abdullah, 20, was found dead while another, Prebet Muhammad Zulkarnain Jaffar, 27, is missing.

The two were conducting patrols in Pulau Mataking, Semporna.

According to the Fifth Regiment, Prebet Muhammad Irfan was found unconscious and was declared dead at the scene by medical officials on Friday (Sept 12).

Prebet Muhammad Zulkarnain is missing and search and rescue operations are ongoing.

It is believed both personnel got into trouble and drowned when conducting Ops Pasir.
