ALOR SETAR: A 29-year-old man suspected of fatally stabbing a woman and a man in Taman Nona, Guar Chempedak, last Thursday has been remanded for six days.

This is to assist police investigations.

Magistrate Noor Fazlina Musa granted the remand order, which runs from Sept 13 until Sept 18, under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder.

Yan OCPD Superintendent Mohd Hamizi Abdullah said the suspect was arrested in Kuala Terengganu at 9.45am on Sept 12.

"Investigations are ongoing to establish the suspect’s connection to the female victim," he said.

Earlier, the suspect was brought to the Sungai Petani Court Complex in a police vehicle at 8am before being handed over to the authorities.

His counsel, Abdul Hayyi Salim, who attended the proceedings, confirmed that the suspect had been detained in front of a roadside shop in Kuala Terengganu.

Asked whether the suspect had suffered any injuries, Abdul Hayyi said he was in good health.

He added that the man had previously worked in the private sector and was now seeking employment in Kuala Lumpur.

The Kedah police headquarters is scheduled to hold a press conference tomorrow to provide further updates on the double-murder case.

It was reported that a man and a woman were found dead with stab wounds in Taman Nona, Guar Chempedak on Friday (Sept 12).

Police found the woman, 28, in a car in front of a house, while the 30-year-old man was lying on the road in the housing area with multiple stab wounds on his body.
