IGP: X-Band satellite project completed

KUALA LUMPUR: The Logistics and Technology Department (JLog) of the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) has completed the X-Band Satellite Communications Development Project, a system designed to maintain communication during disasters in remote areas, along border regions or in situations where public networks are disrupted.

Inspector-General of Police Datuk Seri Mohd Khalid Ismail said the project was fully completed on Dec 31 last year.

“The X-Band satellite, installed on a specially equipped bus, features a control system, data access capabilities and real-time communication functions.

“This technology enables operational coordination to be carried out more efficiently and effectively, serving as a force multiplier to enhance PDRM’s field operations,” he said at a monthly assembly.

Also present were Deputy Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Ayob Khan Mydin Pitchay and Bukit Aman JLog director Comm Gilbert Philip Layang.

According to Mohd Khalid, the symbolic launch of the X-Band satellite represented PDRM’s preparedness for national security challenges.

In his speech, he also expressed his gratitude that PDRM has been able to maintain the nation’s security and peace, while continuing to receive strong support from the government.
