Malaysia's image in international diplomacy boosted by PM Anwar, says Abang Jo

KUCHING: Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has raised Malaysia's profile as a leader in diplomacy, says Tan Sri Abang Johari Openg.

The Sarawak Premier said this was particularly seen in the Prime Minister's role in brokering peace in the recent border conflict between Thailand and Cambodia.

He said Anwar had also spoken up against hostility in various conflicts.

"This has boosted Malaysia's image on the global stage.

"The world can see that Malaysia places priority on peace," he said at a dinner in conjunction with Anwar's visit to Sarawak here on Thursday (Sept 11) night.

Abang Johari also said Sarawak was committed to helping Malaysia become a green energy hub in Asean.

He said Sarawak was exploring new technology to significantly increase the production of hydrogen as a source of green energy.

"We can use this technology to make Malaysia a country that meets international standards in green energy," he said.

Additionally, Abang Johari said Sarawak would continue to work closely with the Federal Government in developing the state and nation.

For example, he said the state would collaborate with Putrajaya in building the Sarawak-Sabah Link Road Phase 2 project.

"This shows the close ties we enjoy and the good relationship we have with one another, especially as we celebrate Malaysia Day this month," he added.
