Kelantan cops nab man for possession of gun, 36 bullets


KOTA BARU: Kelantan police seized a pistol along with 36 bullets after arresting a man during a raid at a house in Kampung Paloh, Pintu Geng here on Saturday (Sept 6), Sinar Harian reports.

The raid, conducted at approximately 5am Saturday, was carried out by a team of officers from the D9 Special Investigation Branch, along with the D4 Branch of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) from the Kelantan police contingent headquarters, the Malay language daily reported.

Kelantan police chief Comm Datuk Mohd Yusoff Mamat (pic) told Sinar Harian that the unemployed 50-year-old has a criminal record with three prior criminal offences and nine narcotics offences.

"The seized pistol is a Glock 26 Gen 4 Austria 9x9, with 34 live rounds marked A Auto 380 Auto and two live rounds marked PAC 380 Auto.

"A urine screening test on the suspect was positive for methamphetamine," he said in a statement on Tuesday (Sept 9).

He added that the man is being remanded for four days until Wednesday (Sept 10).

The suspect will be investigated under Section 8 of the Firearms (Increased Penalties) Act 1971, Section 8(a) of the Arms Act 1960, and Section 15(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952, Comm Yusoff added.
