KUALA LUMPUR: Bukit Aman has rolled out a pilot project for lodging online reports involving minor accidents.
Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department (JSPT) director Comm Datuk Seri Mohd Yusri Hassan Basri said the initiative, which began on Sept 1, is being tested along the North-South Expressway.
“Private vehicle users involved in minor accidents – those that do not result in injuries, damage to other vehicles or harm to public property – will be able to lodge police reports online via the PDRM e-Reporting platform.
“For example, an accident where the driver lost control of the vehicle and swerved off the road, causing damage to [their] own vehicle.
“We are starting along the North-South Expressway and will evaluate the response from the public,” he said when contacted.

Comm Mohd Yusri said the initiative came to fruition after three years of planning and development by the department with the cooperation of Bank Negara.
“The initiative provides motorists with an alternative to physically reporting accidents at nearby police stations,” he said.
Comm Mohd Yusri said the digital-based initiative merges policing expertise with national financial oversight, particularly in handling insurance claims.
“It is expected to improve investigation efficiency, streamline enforcement and expand public access to police services online in a user-friendly manner,” he said.
Comm Mohd Yusri also said the initiative as a whole-of-nation approach would benefit the public by offering a simpler method to report minor accidents while aligning with Malaysia’s digital transformation agenda.
The pilot project also involves the Transport Ministry, the Road Transport Department and the National Financial Crime Centre.
Strong support has been extended by the insurance and takaful industry, led by the General Insurance Association of Malaysia and the Malaysian Takaful Association alongside PLUS Malaysia Berhad as the highway concessionaire.
