Visa for missing British teen expires on Sept 4, say cops

SHAH ALAM: The entry visa for British teenager David Balisong (pic), who went missing after entering Malaysia for a holiday, will expire on Thursday (Sept 4).

Selangor police chief Datuk Shazeli Kahar said records showed the 17-year-old arrived in the country on June 7 on a three-month visa.

"If nothing has happened to him, he will leave the country when his visa expires and we will be able to trace him," he told reporters here on Wednesday (Sept 3).

Shazeli said efforts to locate the teenager are ongoing, with information provided by his mother and other parties.

"We are following up on all leads but his whereabouts remain unknown," he said.

Earlier, it was reported that Balisong, an student from Cheadle, Greater Manchester, left home on June 6 after telling his brother he had school matters to attend to. Instead, he boarded a flight alone from Manchester to Kuala Lumpur.

Since then, he has switched off his phone and stopped replying to emails.

His last known contact was on July 9, when he emailed his mother asking her not to worry, stop searching for him. He also apologised for his actions and wished his family success in life. – Bernama
