Umno appoints Johari Ghani to lead task force on Urban Renewal Bill

PETALING JAYA: Umno has appointed its vice-president, Datuk Seri Johari Abdul Ghani, to head a special task force aimed at refining the proposed Urban Renewal Bill.

Umno secretary-general Datuk Dr Asyraf Wajdi Dusuki stated that the task force would examine and scrutinise every aspect of the Bill in detail before it is tabled at the upcoming Malay Urban Convention.

"This task force will be responsible for looking into and fine-tuning the Urban Renewal Bill to ensure it addresses all key issues effectively before being presented at the Malay Urban Convention," he said in a statement on Wednesday (Sept 3).

The convention, scheduled for the end of September, will gather Umno’s top leadership from across the states and divisions, along with Malay political parties, non-governmental organisations, academics, and civil society representatives.

According to Asyraf, the resolutions adopted at the convention will be handed over to Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.
