KUALA LUMPUR: The Sultan of Selangor, Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah, is impressed by the over 100 artifacts on display at the "Ngauman Harimau Mysore: Warisan Haider Ali dan Tipu Sultan (1761-1799)" exhibition.
In a post on the Selangor Royal Office Facebook page, it was stated that His Royal Highness recently visited the exhibition held at the Islamic Arts Museum Malaysia here in Kuala Lumpur.
"His Royal Highness was fascinated by the more than 100 artefacts that took two decades to assemble.
"The exhibition invites visitors to explore the legacy of two influential figures, a father and son who are now largely forgotten.
"Haider Ali and Tipu Sultan are remembered as influential symbols of anti-colonial resistance, but after their downfall, their names have been marginalised in mainstream Indian history," the post said on Wednesday (Sept 3).
It further mentioned that the exhibition delves into the symbolism, ideology, and historical impact that elevated Haider and Tipu as important figures in the history of South India, especially in the Sultanate of Mysore.
The exhibition runs until Jan 11, 2026.
