Missing airman found safe in Ampang Jaya

SERDANG: An Air Force personnel, who was reported missing since Aug 24, has been found safe earlier Wednesday (Sept 3) afternoon.

Serdang OCPD Asst Comm Muhamad Farid Ahmad said Muhammad Ammar Mohd Ariffin, 27, was discovered at a residence in Ampang Jaya.

He added that no criminal elements were detected in connection with the disappearance.

"A team from the Serdang district police headquarters located the airman in good health, with no signs of injury," he said when contacted on Wednesday.

The police are now looking into the circumstances behind his disappearance. An official statement is expected to be issued soon.

Muhammad Ammar, who is attached to the Air Force, had been attending a Vehicle Transport Supervisor Course at the TUDM Institute of Material Management Training (Insmat) in Bandar Kinrara.

Participants were allowed to return home on Aug 22 and instructed to report back on Aug 25. However, he failed to do so, prompting his course supervisor to lodge a police report that day.

Investigations revealed that the last sighting of Muhammad Ammar was on Aug 23 at Sungai Kedondong around 4.30pm. Attempts by his roommate to contact him the following evening were unsuccessful, as his mobile phone had been switched off.
