Orang Asli woman killed as lorry veers off road, crashes into stall near Simpang Pulai


IPOH: An Orang Asli woman died after being crushed under a lorry that veered off the road and crashed into a stall on Jalan Simpang Pulai-Cameron Highlands at Jalan Kampung Pos Slim, near Simpang Pulai, on Saturday (Aug 30).

Perak Fire and Rescue Department acting assistant director of operations, Shazlean Mohd Hanafiah, stated that the department received a call at 3.16pm, after which a team from the Simpang Pulai Fire and Rescue Station was dispatched to the scene, located 57km away.

"A bonded lorry skidded and hit a stall. The accident resulted in the death of a 54-year-old Orang Asli woman who was crushed under the lorry," he said in a statement.

Another 26-year-old Orang Asli woman sustained injuries to her face and legs, while the 47-year-old lorry driver was unharmed.

Shazlean confirmed that the victim was pronounced dead at the scene by medical personnel and handed over to police for further action, adding that the rescue operation concluded at 5.30pm. – Bernama
