Selangor Ruler attends state-level National Day prayer ceremony

SHAH ALAM: Selangor Ruler Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah attended a Yasin recitation and special prayer ceremony held in conjunction with the state-level celebration of the 68th National Day on Friday (Aug 29).

The ceremony, held at the Sultan Salahuddin Abdul Aziz Shah Mosque, was also graced by the Raja Muda Selangor, Tengku Amir Shah Sultan Sharafuddin Idris.

Selangor Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari and state Secretary Datuk Dr Ahmad Fadzli Ahmad Tajuddin welcomed their arrival.

Also present were Selangor Islamic Religious Council (Mais) chairman Datuk Salehuddin Saidin and Selangor Islamic Religious Department (Jais) director Datuk Mohd Shahzihan Ahmad.

The prayers, led by Selangor Mufti Datuk Dr Anhar Opir, were joined by about 1,000 congregants, including state officials and security personnel.

Following the prayers, Sultan Sharafuddin performed the Friday prayers. He listened to a sermon titled "Unity: The Key to Enduring Independence", delivered by the mosque's Grand Imam Datuk Muhammad Farhan Wijaya, who also led the congregation.

The Selangor-level National Day celebration is scheduled to take place on Saturday (Aug 30) night at Dataran Kemerdekaan in Shah Alam, carrying the national theme "Malaysia MAdani: Rakyat Disantuni". - Bernama
