Man nabbed after reporting attack on another man in Melaka


MELAKA: A man in women’s clothing who allegedly slashed a 40-year-old man with a meat cleaver in Bandar Hilir here ran straight to the police station to report the very attack he had just committed.

The incident took place at about 2pm on Sunday (August 24) along Jalan Melaka Raya here, when the 36-year-old suspect struck the victim from behind.

According to a police source, the suspect, armed with a meat cleaver, had suddenly attacked the man before fleeing in panic to the Bandar Hilir police station to report what had happened.

Police officers then contacted an ambulance for medical assistance and also lodged a report on the incident.

The victim was reported to be in stable condition and currently is undergoing treatment at Hospital Melaka.

The suspect, who was still dressed in women’s attire, was arrested around midnight on the same day (Aug 24).

The suspect was produced before the Magistrate’s Court in Ayer Keroh on Tuesday (August 26) and was remanded for four days until Aug 29 to assist investigations under Section 324 of the Penal Code.

Checks revealed the suspect from Kuala Lumpur has a criminal record, including for drug-related offences.
