Family of three on motorcycle killed in crash with driver allegedly under influence of drugs

KAJANG: A family of three was killed in a road accident after being hit by a car driven by a man allegedly under the influence of drugs.

In a statement Wednesday (July 29), Kajang OCPD Asst Comm Naazron Abdul Yusof said that the accident occurred around 7:56 a.m. Wednesday near Jalan Batu 17 in Hulu Langat.

“At the time the 34-year-old motorcyclist, a mechanic, was travelling with his 32-year-old wife and their three-year-old son from their home in Batu 18, Hulu Langat, towards Nanding when the car allegedly entered their lane, resulting in a head-on collision.

“The impact threw all three victims from the motorcycle, and they were pronounced dead at the scene,” he said.

The driver of the car was subsequently arrested and checks showed that he has two prior drug related offences.

The driver also tested positive for methamphetamine in a drug screening.

The suspect will be remanded Thursday (July 30).
