KL cops destroy over RM44mil worth of seized drugs, equipment

KUALA LUMPUR: Kuala Lumpur police are destroying drugs and equipment worth more than RM44.3mil in a disposal exercise.

KL police chief Comm Datuk Fadil Marsus said the drugs included methamphetamine, cannabis, cocaine, ketamine and various other substances, weighing a total of 839kg along with 1,345 litres of liquid drugs.

“The disposal involved 21,293 investigation papers that had gone through the prosecution process in court from 2009 until 2024,” he told reporters after attending the KL Narcotics Criminal Investigation Department (NCID) case item disposal ceremony yesterday.

Comm Fadil said the disposal was carried out with the help of Kualiti Alam Sdn Bhd, selected based on its expertise and capability.

“The company is understood to be using its latest facility – a ‘scheduled waste to energy’ incinerator that produces new energy in a regulated and pollution-free manner.

"The disposal will be conducted at Kualiti Alam’s waste treatment centre at Ladang Tanah Merah A3 Division in Bukit Pelandok, Negri Sembilan,” he added.
