Sarawak partners international body to boost anti-fraud capacity

KUCHING: Sarawak will collaborate with an international organisation to enhance anti-fraud awareness, training and professional certification in the state.

This follows a memorandum of understanding (MOU) between the Sarawak Centre of Performance Excellence Sdn Bhd (Scope) and the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners (ACFE) on Monday (Aug 18).

The MOU sets a framework to promote best practices in fraud prevention and detection and to organise professional training programmes in Sarawak.

It includes training for the globally recognised Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE) certification.

Scope CEO Joseph Lim said the partnership will equip Sarawak’s public sector, government-linked companies and industries with tools to detect and prevent fraud.

“It aligns with our mission to raise governance standards and foster a culture of integrity,” he said.

ACFE president John D. Gill said the organisation is pleased to partner with Scope to deliver CFE training in Sarawak.

“Together, we aim to build a community of anti-fraud professionals who can protect organisations from financial and reputational harm,” he said.

The MOU covers training and capacity building, sharing of resources on best practices, and tailored programmes for Sarawak’s public and private sectors.

It will be in effect for two years with annual reviews to align with evolving strategies and Sarawak’s development goals.
