SHAH ALAM: A caretaker and her husband have been arrested after a child under their care was found with bruises on his face.

Shah Alam OCPD Asst Comm Mohd Iqbal Ibrahim said the mother of the two-year-old boy filed a report after noticing bruises when he was sent home.

“The boy was sent to the caretaker’s house in Seksyen 16 on Aug 15 at 10 am. When he returned home at 9.30 pm, his mother noticed bruises on his face.

“The mother questioned the caretaker, who initially said the boy had fought with another child. The mother did not believe her and filed a police report on Aug 15,” he said.

Medical checks showed the boy sustained soft tissue injuries.

“Based on information, police arrested the caretaker and her husband, aged 40 and 37, on Aug 17 at an apartment in Seksyen 16. They have been remanded for three days,” he said.

A social media post by a family member showed bruises on much of the child’s face and called for justice for her nephew.
