KUALA LUMPUR: The Dewan Rakyat descended into chaos after Kampar MP Chong Zhe Min questioned PAS president Datuk Seri Abdul Hadi Awang over mentioning the 13th Malaysia Plan (13MP).
Chong cited Standing Order 36(1) and argued that failing to address the 13MP could confuse the public.
Several PAS MPs then stood and told Chong to sit down.
Datuk Che Mohamad Zulkifly Jusoh (Perikatan Nasional–Besut) defended Abdul Hadi, saying he could debate any policy issue.
Chong replied that he was not stopping Abdul Hadi from debating but asked why 13MP was omitted.
A shouting match then erupted between Chong and several PAS and Perikatan Nasional MPs.
Earlier, Abdul Hadi recited a Malay poem before ending his speech and said, “Kuala Lumpur is problematic under DAP, Pakatan Harapan and their friends.”
RSN Rayer (Pakatan Harapan–Jelutong) then asked whether such a remark was allowed.
Several PAS MPs again stood to defend Abdul Hadi and urged that ministers answer his questions.
During the exchange, shouts of “DAP is rude” were heard.
Rayer asked, “Is it acceptable if I say PAS is Parti Ajaran Sesat?”
Another shouting match followed, with PAS MPs demanding that Rayer retract his statement.
Dewan Rakyat Speaker Tan Sri Johari Abdul then took the chair and asked both sides to calm down.
He called the next MP to continue the debate.
Datuk Awang Hashim (Perikatan–Pendang) and Rayer were still heard talking in the background.
Johari warned both MPs to stop.
“Pendang and Jelutong, do you want me to suspend you? Please behave, or I will suspend you.”
“If anyone wants to leave, do it properly. Do not provoke. Sit down, Jelutong. Bentong, continue. What is this? What kind of people’s representatives are you? Have you no shame? Very shameful. You are adults, not children, yet still fighting.”
He then ordered Bentong MP Young Syefura Othman to proceed.
