Bring it on': Mara chairman unfazed by threats of legal action over expelled students

PETALING JAYA: Datuk Dr Asyraf Wajdi Dusuki says he is prepared to face any legal action following reports that certain parents were threatening legal action after their children were expelled from Mara Junior Science College (MRSM) involved in bullying incidents.

In a statement posted on his Facebook page, the Majlis Amanah Rakyat (Mara) chairman revealed he was informed that some parents intend to sue both him and Mara over disciplinary actions taken against their children.

"Bring it on!

“I want to protect the safety of the majority of students, not a handful who act like gangsters,” he said.

However, he did not reveal the identities of the parents.

He added that maintaining a secure and conducive learning environment for all students was Mara’s top priority.

The post, which included the hashtag #YouTouchYouGo, has since gone viral with over 5,800 likes, 774 comments, and more than 300 shares.

On June 27, the Mara chairman said that the six students involved have been suspended and expelled from MRSM after an investigation found that they were involved in bullying their college juniors.

On Thursday (June 26), the media reported that a Form Two student at MRSM Besut claimed to have been bullied by a group of senior students in the Putera dormitory on Tuesday night, resulting in injuries to his abdomen, ribs and back.

Besut OCPD Supt Azamuddin Ahmad @ Abu, was reported to have said that his department received a report regarding the incident at 6.48pm on Wednesday (June 25).
