US reaffirms commitment to strengthen defence, security diplomacy across Asean, says PM Anwar


KUALA LUMPUR: Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said the United States has reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening defence and security diplomacy across the Asean region.

The Prime Minister said this assurance was among the key matters discussed during a courtesy visit by the commander of the US Indo-Pacific Command, Admiral Samuel J. Paparo, at Perdana Putra in Putrajaya on Tuesday (Aug 5).

Describing the meeting as a valuable platform, Anwar emphasised that it served to deepen mutual understanding and facilitate the exchange of views on a wide range of regional issues.

"This includes efforts to further enhance bilateral defence cooperation between Malaysia and the US,” he posted on Facebook.- Bernama
