Govt urged to diversify fertiliser sources, say farming groups


PETALING JAYA: Putrajaya is being urged to accelerate alternative fertiliser strategies as the ongoing Middle East conflict threatens to push up prices and disrupt supplies critical to the country’s rice and vegetable sectors, industry players say.

Malaysian Padi Farmers ­Bro­ther­hood Association chairman Abdul Rashid Yob said despite the temporary ceasefire, a large volume of global fertiliser trade passed through the Strait of Hormuz to export markets around the world.
