Police announce road diversions due to July 26 rally


KUALA LUMPUR: Several roads around the city centre are expected to be diverted in response to the "Turun Anwar" rally on Saturday (July 26).

Acting Kuala Lumpur police chief Deputy Comm Datuk Mohamed Usuf Jan Mohamad said the road diversions will occur from time to time depending on the situation.

"The diversions will be conducted to ensure smooth traffic flow and the safety of all road users," he said in a statement on Friday.

Among the roads affected are:

  1. Jalan Maharajalela/slip road to Jalan Syed Putra.
  2. Jalan Kinabalu/U-Turn Public Bank.
  3. Bulatan Sultan Mohamad.
  4. Jalan Kinabalu/slip road to Bukit Aman Tunnel.
  5. Jalan Kinabalu/slip road to Bulatan Dato' Onn
  6. Above Bulatan Dato' Onn (left and right lanes)
  7. Bulatan Dato' Onn from the direction of Jalan Parlimen.
  8. Jalan Sultan Salahuddin/Bulatan Dato' Onn.
  9. Jalan Kuching/slip road to Jalan Sultan Ismail.
  10. Jalan Kinabalu (from the direction of Bulatan Segambut towards Bulatan Dato' Onn).
  11. Jalan Kinabalu (from the direction of Masjid Negara to Bulatan Dato' Onn).
  12. Jalan Lebuh Pasar Besar/Jalan Hang Kasturi
  13. Jalan Hishamudin/Jalan Raja.
  14. Jalan Parlimen/Jalan Raja Laut.
  15. Jalan Tuanku Abdul Rahman/ Jalan Tun Perak.
  16. Jalan Lebuh Ampang/Jalan Tun Perak.

He said the rally participants will gather at five locations - Masjid Negara, Pasar Seni, Masjid Jamek Sultan Abdul Samad, Masjid Jamek Kampung Baru, and Sogo shopping mall - before marching to Dataran Merdeka.

DCP Mohamed Usuf advised the public to plan their journeys to avoid being stuck in any traffic congestion.

"We also advise the public to use public transportation and abide by the instructions issued by traffic police personnel.

"We urge those with queries or information to contact the KL police hotline at 03-21159999 or Jalan Tun H.S. Lee Traffic police station at 03-20719999 or any nearest police station.
