MetMalaysia issues thunderstorm warning for six states, KL and Putrajaya


KUALA LUMPUR: Thunderstorms, heavy rain, and strong winds are expected across several regions in Malaysia, with warnings in effect until 4pm on Thursday, (July 24), announced the Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) in a statement on their social media pages.

In Perak, the districts of Larut, Matang Dan Selama, Manjung, and Perak Tengah are on alert for severe weather.

In Selangor, areas including Hulu Selangor, Gombak, Petaling, Hulu Langat, and Sepang are expected to experience adverse conditions, along with Kuala Lumpur and Putrajaya.

In Negeri Sembilan, districts such as Jelebu, Seremban, Kuala Pilah, and Jempol are under the warning.

In Johor, regions including Kulai, Kota Tinggi, and Johor Bahru are forecasted to be affected.

In Sarawak, Bintulu (Bintulu and Sebauh) is expected to face severe weather.

MetMalaysia issues these warnings when thunderstorms with rainfall intensity exceeding 20mm per hour are imminent or expected to last more than an hour.

These are short-term warnings, valid for no more than six hours from issuance.
