SEPANG: Seven Afghan nationals, including two teenagers, were detained for using fake travel documents at KL International Airport (KLIA).
The Border Control and Protection Agency (AKPS) said the arrests were made after the agency thwarted two attempts to enter the country using forged visas at the airport’s Terminal 1.
“Those detained were seven Afghan nationals, consisting of five adults and two teenagers, aged between 15 and 36.
“They arrived in two batches – the first group on Sunday (July 13) morning and the other on Tuesday (July 15) night,” the agency said in a statement yesterday.
Acting on intelligence, AKPS officers detected irregularities in their documents, which included forged visas believed to have been obtained in Uzbekistan.
“They claimed to have fled Iran and intended to make Malaysia their final destination,” the agency said.
All seven individuals were denied entry for violating immigration regulations and attempting to use fraudulent travel documents.
“The swift action taken by our officers reflects AKPS’ commitment to uphold the highest standards of border security and to prevent any attempts at illegal migration,” the agency said.
