Police probing Shila Amzah’s assault claim


KUALA LUMPUR: An investigation is underway into a claim by singer Shila Amzah (pic), who alleged she was assaulted by a popular singer.

Kuala Lumpur deputy police chief Deputy Comm Datuk Mohamed Usuf Jan Mohamad said police have recor­ded statements from two people.

He said Shila, whose real name is Nurshahila Amir Amzah, lodged a report at the Dang Wangi district police headquarters here at 5.31pm on Thursday.

“So far, the individual alleged to have assaulted Shila has not been summoned, but efforts are underway to obtain a statement from the person involved.

“The case is being investigated under Section 506 of the Penal Code,” he told Bernama yesterday.

On Thursday, the media repor­ted that Shila claimed she was assaulted by a popular singer du­ring a rehearsal session for a concert.
