Tawau teenager shocked by indecent exposure on her walk home

KOTA KINABALU: A teenager in the Tawau district had a rude shock while walking home from school when a man exposed himself to her.

The 15-year-old was on her way home when a man driving a four-wheel-drive vehicle approached her and pretended to ask for directions on Wednesday (July 9).

“Later, the man allegedly acted indecently while exposing himself,” said Tawau OCPD Asst Comm Jasmin Hussin.

Shocked, the girl ran off to a nearby housing area and later went to her nearest police station to lodge a report, he said.

He said the suspect, a 30-year-old man, was arrested at a house in the Merotai area, not long after.

The vehicle he was driving during the alleged incident was also confiscated, said ACP Jasmin.

“This case is being investigated under the Sexual Offences Against Children Act 2017,” he said.
