KOTA BARU: Police have arrested four individuals to assist investigations into the murder of a male Myanmar refugee in Taman Desa Kujid, Kampung Pok Boh here in the wee hours of Saturday (Sept 19).
Kelantan police chief Datuk Mohd Yusoff Mamat said the Kota Bharu district police headquarters learned about the discovery of the victim, aged 18, at 12.12am on Saturday.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the murder was believed to have occurred at a workers’ dormitory near a Muslim cemetery in Taman Desa Kujid.
"The victim was found unconscious with cuts to his neck,” he said in a statement, adding that a police team then raided an unnumbered house in Taman Desa Kujid, Panji, based on information received.
Four individuals – a Chinese man, two Myanmar men and woman, aged 22 to 38 – were arrested, and a Mitsubishi Triton and four mobile phones were seized during the raid, he added.
Checks revealed the suspects had no prior criminal records.
They have been remanded for seven days until Sept 25 to facilitate investigations under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder.
Mohd Yusoff urged witnesses and those with information to come forward to assist investigations by contacting the Kota Baru district police headquarters operations room at 09-7752200 or any nearby police station. – Bernama
