Father and son held over murder of e-hailing driver

AMPANG: A 36-year-old man and his father have been detained in connection with the murder of an e-hailing driver.

Ampang Jaya OCPD Asst Comm Mohd Azam Ismail said the 37-year-old victim was found dead at Taman Pandan Perdana at 7.16pm on June 22.

"Initially, the case was classified as sudden death, but a post-mortem revealed signs of foul play.

"We detained a man and his 73-year-old father.

"The younger suspect is also the victim's best friend," he said here on Tuesday (July 8).

ACP Mohd Azam said police believe unpaid debts led to the murder.

"We also seized a bamboo cane and pliers.

"Both suspects tested negative for drugs and do not have any criminal records.

"They have been remanded to assist with the investigation," he added.
