Two teens killed in early morning car crash in Miri

MIRI: Two 19-year-old men were killed in a car crash early on Sunday (July 6) morning after the vehicle they were in slammed into a tree along Jalan Kuala Baram.

The incident occurred in front of SJK (C) Chung Hua Tudan at about 2.30am.

"The impact left both victims trapped inside the vehicle," said a Sarawak Fire and Rescue Department spokesman.

Firefighters from the Lopeng fire station were dispatched to the scene upon receiving the emergency call and attempted to extricate the victims from the wreckage.

"Both individuals were found unconscious and were later pronounced dead at the scene by the attending Health Ministry medical officer," said the spokesman.

The victims have been identified as Roquell Brain Roland and Slyvester Ribai Tuah, both aged 19.

Their remains were handed over to the police for further investigation and were later sent to Miri Hospital for post-mortem examination.
