Shuhaily aims to boost border control agency’s visibility and impact


KUALA LUMPUR: Newly appointed Malaysian Border Control and Protection Agency (AKPS) director-general Comm Datuk Seri Mohd Shuhaily Mohd Zain has vowed to elevate the agency to be more impactful and visible.

"We want to ensure the agency is seen physically and have an impact on society within a year," he told reporters shortly after clocking in at the agency's headquarters on Tuesday (July 1).

Comm Mohd Shuhaily said his contract is for two years.

"If you break it down into quarters, I have eight quarters to fulfill my responsibility at the agency,” he said.

Prior to clocking in, Comm Mohd Shuhaily said he met Home Ministry secretary -general Datuk Awang Alik Jeman.

"He gave several mandates to fulfil, including settling several administrative issues as soon as possible," he said.

Comm Mohd Shuhaily also saluted media practitioners who supported him all these years.

"Even though I have transferred to a new department, they still show their loyalty.

"For that, I am truly grateful," he added.
