Home Minister offers condolences to family of policeman killed on duty


KUALA LUMPUR: Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail conveyed his condolences to the family of Lance Corporal Muhammad Amirul Aiman Muhammad Othman, who was killed during an official police assignment here early Saturday (June 28) morning.

The Home Minister expressed his sadness over the death of the 24-year-old police personnel in a Facebook post, and hoped that the family would remain strong through this difficult time.

"May Allah SWT forgive his sins and place him among the righteous and bless him for his contributions to the country," he wrote.

According to Kuala Lumpur Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department chief Asst Comm Mohd Zamzuri Mohd Isa, Muhammad Amirul Aiman died after he lost control of the motorcycle he was riding at a corner of Jalan Kuching heading to Selayang, hit a road divider and fell down the side of the road.

Another police personnel who was riding behind him suffered minor injuries in the 4.30am incident as they were conducting monitoring and crime prevention activities as part of a police operation.

ACP Mohd Zamzuri said Muhammad Amirul Aiman seved in the Intelligence/Operations Division of the department for over a year after completing his training.

"He leaves behind a wife and three children. He will be buried in his hometown in Ajil, Terengganu today," he said, adding that the case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987. - Bernama
