Syed Saddiq’s mother forgives wrongdoers after court ruling

PUTRAJAYA: The mother of Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman has expressed forgiveness towards those who have wronged her son.

"I still forgive them for what they did to my son and family. For those who have wronged my son, I can only pray that Allah grants them guidance.

"Life is temporary, not everlasting.

Sharifah Mahani Syed Abdul Aziz made the remarks after the Court of Appeal acquitted the Muar MP in the RM1.2mil graft case involving funds from Armada Bersatu today.

However, she also reminded that every act of injustice will have its consequences, not only in the hereafter but possibly in this world as well.

"Let us not wrong others, for the consequences are not only in the hereafter but can occur in this world as well," she said in a press conference at the Palace of Justice on Wednesday (June 25).

In a voice filled with emotion, Sharifah Mahani said that as a mother, she is saddened by the various trials her son has faced over the past five years.

“Sometimes I feel uneasy and I don’t want him to be in politics because the path is difficult without any cooperation. But he (Syed Saddiq) has a strong sense of love and devotion for Malaysia as well the people and the religion, so as a mother it is my duty to help him with his struggles.

Meanwhile, Syed Saddiq’s father Syed Abdul Rahman said they were touched and grateful for all the support, including those from overseas, given towards his son.
