Four company directors among five nabbed for using fake info to get foreign worker permits

KUALA LUMPUR: The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) has arrested five people including four company directors, one of whom is a Bangladeshi national, on suspicion of submitting documents containing false information to obtain foreign worker permits.

According to a source, the four men and a woman, aged between 20 and 60, were arrested between 3pm and 6pm on Monday (June 23) while they were giving statements at the Selangor MACC office.

"Initial investigations found that all the suspects submitted the Manpower Recalibration Programme 2.0 application documents to the Selangor Immigration Department which contained false details.

"All the suspects, through their respective companies, are believed to have committed these acts around 2023 to 2024,” the source said.

The suspects have been remanded for four days from Tuesday (June 24) after the MACC application was approved by Magistrate Mohamad Redza Azhar Rezali at a Shah Alam Magistrate’s Court.

Selangor MACC director Hairuzam Mohmad Amin confirmed the arrests when contacted, and said the case is being investigated under Section 18 of the MACC Act 2009.

However, he said three others who were also arrested in connection with the case on Monday were released on bail of RM10,000 each, with two sureties, on health grounds. – Bernama
