PM Anwar extends condolences over passing of Sarawak Premier's wife


KUALA LUMPUR: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has extended condolences to the Premier of Sarawak Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg on the passing of his wife, Puan Sri Juma’ani Tuanku Haji Bujang early Monday (June 23) morning.

In a Facebook post, Anwar said he and his wife, Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail, were deeply saddened by the news.

"Our thoughts are with the family, especially Abang Jo (Abang Johari), whom I met just yesterday. May he remain patient and steadfast during this trial.

"We pray that the soul of the late Puan Sri be forgiven for all her sins and granted a special place by His side. Al-Fatihah,” read the post.

Juma’ani, 76, passed away at a private medical centre in Kuching at 3.34am today.

She was the daughter of Sarawak's second Yang di-Pertua Negeri, Tun Tuanku Bujang Tuanku Othman.

The final respects ceremony will be held at Masjid Jamek Negeri from 10am to noon, followed by the burial at the Semariang Muslim Cemetery in Petra Jaya, Kuching. - Bernama
