Na'imah's lawyers dismayed by NFA decision on her police report

KUALA LUMPUR: Toh Puan Na’imah Abdul Khalid's lawyers say they are disappointed and concerned by the decision of the police and Attorney General’s Chambers (AGC) to classify her police report on Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim and Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) chief commissioner Tan Sri Azam Baki as "no further action" or NFA.

The report, filed on Sept 30, alleged misconduct and abuse of power by the two officials, following a report by Bloomberg News which claimed that the MACC had launched politically motivated investigations, specifically targeting her late husband, former finance minister Tun Daim Zainuddin.

Lawyers Rajesh Nagarajan and Sachpreetraj Singh Sohanpal confirmed that they received formal notification of the NFA classification via a letter dated June 21 from Sentul district police headquarters.

They described the decision as “unacceptable, shocking, and contrary to principles of governance and the rule of law.”

"Our client has waited nine months without any meaningful update from the authorities.

"The sudden issuance of an NFA, particularly after she lodged a complaint with the Independent Police Conduct Commission (IPCC), raises troubling questions," they said in a statement on Monday (June 23).

They claimed there was a lack of transparency in the investigation process and that no information was provided to them.
