Flash floods hit Jalan Kebun and Kota Kemuning after heavy rain

PETALING JAYA: Several low-lying areas in Jalan Kebun and Kota Kemuning were inundated by flash floods on Friday (June 20) morning following continuous heavy rainfall since 6am.

Sinar Harian reported that floodwaters began rising in major roads and residential areas around 8am, causing severe traffic congestion along key routes.

Residents were seen moving their belongings and vehicles to higher ground in anticipation of worsening conditions.

Despite these efforts, several vehicles were reportedly stranded after their owners were unable to relocate them in time.

Meanwhile, the Selangor Fire and Rescue Department said an elderly woman was temporarily trapped inside her flooded home in Taman Bukit Kemuning.

The department received an emergency call regarding the incident at 8.29am and dispatched a team from the Shah Alam fire station, located approximately 10 kilometres from the site.

"The woman was successfully rescued by members of the public and brought to safety.

"Floodwaters at the scene had reached approximately one metre in height.

"The situation remains under control, although no temporary evacuation centres have been opened as of yet," the department said in a statement.

The response team, led by Senior Officer Haspezal Amdan, comprised 10 personnel and two fire engines.
