PETALING JAYA: The National TVET Day celebration 2025 from Wednesday to Friday (June 11 to 13) is expected to attract 150,000 visitors, says Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi.
The Deputy Prime Minister said the event at the Melaka International Trade Centre (MITC) underscores Malaysia’s dedication to building a skilled and future-ready workforce.
"At the heart of the celebration is a powerful message, TVET: The Preferred Career Choice," he said Tuesday (June 10) after chairing a special coordination meeting for the event.
"This theme reflects growing national momentum to position technical and vocational education and training (TVET) as a mainstream path to career success.
"The celebration will be officially launched on Thursday (June 12) by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, (symbolising) the Madani government’s unwavering commitment to making TVET a cornerstone of national development."
Ahmad Zahid said the three-day event will feature over 5,000 job opportunities across various strategic sectors, connecting job seekers directly with potential employers through on-site career matching.
The programme includes technological exhibitions, skills competitions, entrepreneurial workshops, mentoring, and seminars by industry specialists.
The celebration will have four main segments, each designed to immerse visitors in the world of TVET.
The first segment offers four activity hubs: TVET Exhibition, TVET Entrepreneur, Industry Collaboration, and TVET Infotainment.
These hubs, Ahmad Zahid said, will showcase key clusters within the TVET ecosystem, bringing together institutions, industry partners and technopreneurs.
"For a more engaging experience, the Infotainment Hub will host hands-on sessions and live demonstrations across both main and mini stages.
"The second segment features the TVET Convention, a platform for dialogue, strategy and collaboration among educators, policymakers, and industry experts," he added.
The third segment, the TVET Job Fair, offers employment pathways while the fourth segment, TVET Challenge, celebrates skill mastery through competitions and innovation.
"What makes this year’s event stand out is not just its scale, but the energy surrounding it.
"Public interest in skills-based education is at an all-time high, with over 140,000 applications received via the UP-TVET platform, a clear indication that Malaysians are embracing alternative career pathways with enthusiasm," Ahmad Zahid said.
The opening ceremony will see a series of strategic announcements, including initiatives aimed at empowering TVET graduates to venture into high-impact entrepreneurship.
"These steps align with economic demands and reflect Malaysia’s aim to make TVET a driver of innovation and growth in emerging industries.
"Beyond the programmes and announcements, National TVET Day 2025 invites everyone – students, parents, job seekers and entrepreneurs – to explore, participate and connect. It’s an event that doesn't just inform, but inspires," Ahmad Zahid said.
