KLANG: The Consumers Association of Penang (CAP) is hoping that Selangor Ruler Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah will step in and help ban the sale of vape products in the state.
In a statement on Wednesday (June 4), CAP education officer NV Subbarow appealed to His Royal Highness to "save the lives of children" in Selangor.
“CAP (has made this appeal) to help prevent children from getting involved in the dangers of vaping," he said.

Subbarow said Selangor should have taken a firm stand on banning the sale of vapes and electronic cigarettes in the state.
He urged the state government to direct its concerns towards the health of the next generation rather than those in the vape business.
Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari had said on Tuesday (June 3) that discussions were being held with stakeholders, such as the owners of businesses that sell vape products, before a decision would be made.
Amirudin said the state government was also looking into guidelines to cover all aspects of the proposed ban so that there are no loopholes.
This came after initial reports that Selangor was looking at emulating Johor and Terengganu by banning the sale of vapes and e-cigarettes.
According to CAP, youths and schoolchildren already have too much exposure to vaping.

“Our talks in Selangor schools indicate that more and more students are addicted to vaping. (The liquid) contains nicotine and dangerous drugs.
“Many teachers are complaining that students’ attitude has changed because of the habit," Subbarow said.
“We don’t want our children to become addicts and face a bleak future.
“Act immediately to save them for the sake of a healthy and active future generation," he added.
