Cops raid drug lab in Brickfields making narcotic vapes, nab two Taiwanese chemists

KUALA LUMPUR: Police have seized millions worth of drug-laced vape liquids during a raid in Brickfields here.

Bukit Aman narcotics crime investigation department acting director Deputy Comm Mat Zani @ Mohd Salahuddin Che Ali said two Taiwanese chemists aged 30 and 35 were arrested in the May 28 raid.

He said 88.2 litres of amphetamine-laced vape liquid worth RM3.29mil was seized.

"The suspects said they were making it for overseas markets but we will investigate to see if it was sold locally," he said, adding they were also working with Taiwan police.

He said one of those arrested had a criminal record, including murder.

"We are investigating how they entered the country with their criminal record," he said at a press conference today in Bukit Aman on Friday (May 30).

DCP Mat Zani said the syndicate had been active since last year and would move their base operations every three months or so, using short-term rental premises to "cook" their drugs.

He added the chemists involved would also be regularly changed.

"They were paid around RM10,000 for their services," he said.

Both suspects have been remanded until June 4.

"Investigations are underway to find other syndicate members," he said.
