Nurul Izzah praises Rafizi for speaking the truth without fear

KUALA LUMPUR: Datuk Seri Rafizi Ramli has never shied away from speaking the truth or standing up to those in power, says Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) Deputy President Nurul Izzah Anwar.

She said the Economy Minister, who has announced his resignation from the Cabinet effective June 14, has introduced transformative ideas and policies that have shaped national discourse, particularly in governance, transparency and economic justice.

"Many of his ideas will not be forgotten. In fact, they will continue to be refined and implemented - not because they come from him or me, but because they represent what is best for Malaysia,” she said in a Facebook post on Wednesday (May 28).

Nurul Izzah added that Rafizi’s thinking will always remain a source of strength, whether in government or outside it, as the nation needs courageous ideas and bold actions.

"Wherever his path takes him next, I am confident he will continue to shape the future of this country in meaningful ways,” she said, expressing her belief that Rafizi still has much more to offer.

Nurul Izzah, who won the post of PKR deputy president by defeating Rafizi in the party’s polls last week,  said her current focus remains on strengthening the party.

"We will ensure that the top leadership is properly monitored, and I am committed to making sure that essential work continues to be carried out.

"It is our duty to constantly remind each other that we must never stray from the values and principles we have upheld and fought for all this while,” she said.

As a first step, she said efforts were underway to introduce mandatory training for all party leaders at the central, state, and division levels on laws related to money laundering (Amla), corruption and tax compliance.

She emphasised that good governance must be built on strong principles and sound knowledge, to prevent the culture of money politics and misconduct, and to ensure leaders fully understand their responsibilities and uphold integrity.

"We must be the change we wish to see in others,” she added.

Earlier on Wednesday, Rafizi, who is also the Member of Parliament for Pandan, announced his resignation as Economy Minister effective June 17, and has submitted his resignation letter to Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.- Bernama
