Putra Heights inferno: Full report, including from Dosh, expected by end June, says S'gor CPO

SEPANG: The full Occupational Safety and Health Department (Dosh) report on the Putra Heights gas explosion is due to be completed by the end of June, says Comm Datuk Hussein Omar Khan.

The Selangor police chief, at a press conference Tuesday (May 27) at the Sepang police headquarters, said that the police have concluded their on-the-ground investigations and have handed over the scene to Petronas for recovery and repair work.

“Our full findings will be issued together with the release of Dosh’s report which is expected to be out by the end of June,” he said.

On the escavator that was buried during the explosion, he said that it will be extracted during the repair works.

He added that the excavator was not a “main priority” but will also be part of their investigations.

“It is not crucial in our investigation but was an object that was buried during the explosion. We couldn’t extract specimens form the pipeline and this at the same time because the ground could have collapsed.

“We cannot totally ignore the excavator and will investigate it further. But it was not a priority at the time.

“The priority were the specimens from the pipe,” he said.

The gas pipeline fire on April 1 caused widespread destruction.

A total of 81 homes were reported to have been destroyed with more than 40% structural damage, another 81 were partially destroyed, 57 were affected but not burned, while 218 homes, including those in Kampung Tengah Puchong, were unaffected.
