INANAM: The Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Ministry will implement the festive season maximum price control scheme for seven days in conjunction with the Kaamatan and Gawai celebrations, starting next week, says minister Datuk Armizan Mohd Ali (pic).
He said for the Kaamatan festival, the price control scheme will begin on Tuesday (May 27) until June 2.
He said for Gawai, it will start from Thursday (May 29) until June 4.
“A total of 10 items are listed under the Kaamatan price control list compared with eight last year with the addition of imported large yellow and red onions.
“For the Gawai festival, 11 items have been listed compared with eight last year, with the addition of three items – whole coconuts, grated coconut and coconut milk,” Armizan said at Pisompuruan Hall in Kampung Kobuni here yesterday, Bernama reported.
He said the duration of the price control initiative takes into consideration the interests of consumers and the business community.
Items listed under the price control scheme during the Kaamatan festival include live pigs (with maximum prices set only at farms), pork meat, fat and belly.
Others are buffalo meat imported from India (except the tenderloin), chicken wings, curly dried chillies, small red onions (India) and garlic (China).
The price control list for Gawai includes live pigs, pork (meat, fat and belly), live old chickens and chicken wings as well as round cabbage imported from Indonesia and China, except Beijing cabbage, garlic from China and dried curly chillies.
