KUALA LUMPUR: The statements of Datin Seri Pamela Ling Yueh’s children over her alleged abduction have been recorded, say police.
Kuala Lumpur police chief Comm Datuk Rusdi Mohd Isa said it was conducted on Saturday night at the Woodlands police station in Singapore.
“We recorded the statements of her three children, aged from 18 to their 20s, and a family friend.
“I have seen the statements and there were aspects that could help investigators, including her last known whereabouts, whether she was still in contact with family members, before going missing,” Comm Rusdi said when met at the Desa Rejang PPR townhall here yesterday.
A total of 42 people have had their statements recorded.
Comm Rusdi said that records show that it is highly likely that she was still in the country but did not deny the possibility of her leaving Malaysia via illegal routes.
On the detention of her husband, Comm Rusdi said the police could still contact him for statements if required.
Her husband was arrested on May 15, but was released after the police failed to obtain a remand order.
“It is possible; he can be called back anytime if there are developments,” Comm Rusdi said.
On April 9, Pamela was summoned to the MACC headquarters in Putrajaya to assist with an investigation under the MACC Act 2009 and the Anti-Money Laundering, Anti-Terrorism Financing and Proceeds of Unlawful Activities Act.
However, she was allegedly abducted while on her way for the appointment. Her lawyer filed a police report regarding her disappearance on the same day.
So far, no ransom demand has been made.
Regarding the deaths of two Singaporeans found dead inside a homestay in Cheras, Comm Rusdi said they were a married couple and the cause of their death is still being investigated.
On May 16, the husband and wife were found dead by a homestay worker.
The gaps between the windows and doors had been taped up and police found remnants of burnt charcoal in a barbecue grill inside a room.
Ketamine was also found on a steel plate.
