Man held over multiple cable thefts


BALIK PULAU: Police have arrested a 27-year-old man in connection with a series of cable thefts in Bayan Lepas.

Southwest OCPD Asst Comm Sazalee Adam said police stopped the suspect, who was acting suspiciously, in a car yesterday.

A search of the vehicle ­uncovered a range of items, including cable rolls, several cut cable rods, a metal hammer, ­modified iron tools, a hook and chain lifting set, as well as several mobile phones and identity cards belonging to other people.

ACP Sazalee said the suspect admitted to his involvement in cable thefts, alongside three accomplices who are still at large.
