Two women wanted for running cheap China travel package scam

JOHOR BARU: Police are looking for two women linked to an alleged scam involving cheap travel packages to China.

Johor police chief Comm Datuk M. Kumar said the two women, Low Siew Hwa of Taman Nusajaya Mas, and Lim Zhi Xuan of Bukit Indah, were wanted for allegedly collecting payments from customers but failed to fulfil their end of the bargain.

“We have received a total of 34 reports against them, involving a value of RM338,080 so far.

“The victims had purchased the travel packages to China and felt they were scammed after the tour operators could no longer be contacted after that," he said in a statement on Tuesday (May 6).

He added that police are searching for the two women to assist in investigations.

He said the case is being investigated under Section 420 of the Penal Code, which carries a jail term of one to 10 years, caning and a fine for cheating.
