Rafizi returns to work, ends speculation on resignation

PETALING JAYA: Speculations surrounding the resignation of Economy Minister, Datuk Seri Rafizi Ramli, have been laid to rest as he returned to work on Tuesday.

According to a source who spoke to Sinar Harian, Rafizi was present at his ministry office to carry out his duties as usual, effectively ending speculation about his resignation following his recent leave of absence.

However, it remains unclear whether Rafizi will issue any formal explanation regarding the matter.

Speculation that Rafizi, who is also PKR’s deputy president, had taken extended leave due to dissatisfaction with the party’s recent divisional election results sparked widespread discussion.

He was also reportedly said to have expressed an intention to resign during a meeting with his supporters, held after the PKR central leadership council meeting on April 23.

Previously, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said that Rafizi’s alleged extended leave should not be made into an issue.

He confirmed that the leave taken by the Pandan MP was only for a few days and not until the end of the month, as had been reported.
